
The new ‘nook’ eBook Reader from Barnes & Noble, which is due to start shipping shortly, has generated a huge amount of interest in the USA, combining as it does a number of advanced features together with the ‘name recognition’ of one of America’s “Main Street, USA” book-sellers. These features include a second colour touch screen, the 3G and Wi-Fi wireless support and the close integration with the physical Barnes & Noble stores.

Sony Reader Daily Edition
The Sony Reader Daily Edition is Sony’s next-generation Reader, adding 2GB memory (~1.6GB free for storage), a free 3G wireless connection to the Sony eBook Store and a 7″ (diagonal) touch-screen display. It’s now available for order in the US at $399, with occassional store-specific deal lowering that a little.

Kindle DX
It’s not available over here yet, but Amazon have announced that an international version of their 9.7″ eBook Reader, the Kindle DX, will be available “sometime next year”. Just as a guide, the US Kindle DX sells for $489, while a 6″ International Kindle sells for $259. There’s likely to be a small premium on the International version of the FX, so it might be expected to retail at $509 or so.
