The Interead Cool-er eBook Readeris a relatively recent entrant to the ebook reader market and, as the name suggests, is pitching for the ‘reading is cool’ approach with a range of Readers in a rainbow of colours.
On a more prosaic note, it’s positioned as the cheapest and the lightest of the 6-inch eBook Readers. There’s an obvious resemblance to the iPod control wheel, but in this case it’s a central button and four outer buttons – with 4 additional buttons on the side of the device.
As is common with all eInk devices, the display reflects light just like paper, rather than requiring a backlight as needed by LCD screens. What this means is no more of the eyestrain common to users of those devices – these are comfortable for long periods of reading at a time. An additional benefit of this type of screen is that it only requires power when the text is changing, which results in the Reader lasting a week or two between charges. One point that’s worth mentioning about the display is that the Cool-er eBook Reader allows the user to choose between a selection of three font styles and eight font sizes, so it should be possible to find a setting for most user requirements.
As far as supported formats go, the Cool-er eBook Reader supports titles in PDF and EPUB as well as FB2, RTF, TXT, PRC and HTML. Additionally, you can listen to MP3 audio files and view JPG and GIF images. As it supports EPUB, it can read books from the common UK sources such as Waterstones and WHSmith, etc, but Interead also run the CoolerBooks site, where they offer all Cool-er owners 25% off RRP.

I got one for my birthday in february. Mine froze too, and the shop closed down so no service there. After some mailing and a phone call I send it in may to the UK (I Live in Holland) and never heared from it again.
